The Nintendo Switch is considered one of the top consoles created by Nintendo and other companies in the gaming industry. It offers portability, a diverse game library, and popular titles like Pokemon.
Although not every Pokemon release on the Switch has been flawless, fans and newcomers continue to support the series. The Switch has now surpassed all other Nintendo systems in sales of mainline Pokemon games.
Nintendo’s latest annual report revealed that Scarlet & Violet sold 560k copies in 2024, bringing the total sales of mainline Pokemon games on the Switch to nearly 25 million. Combined with previous titles like Sword & Shield and Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl, the total sales reach a remarkable 96 million units.
This achievement solidifies the Switch as the top platform for mainline Pokemon games, with the Game Boy/Game Boy Color coming in second at 75 million units.
The Switch is the most successful platform for the Main Pokemon Series with over 96m units shipped so far.
Surpassing the GB and GBA total of 75.81m units.

This data reflects the continued popularity of Pokemon games and hints at even greater success in the future. With the upcoming release of Pokemon Legends: Z-A in 2025 and the potential for a new Switch version, the 100 million sales mark could be within reach.
Whether on the current Switch or a future iteration, fans eagerly anticipate more Pokemon titles from Nintendo, hoping to push sales past the 100 million milestone.
