Alexander Wang returned to the runway earlier this week, staging a “no season” fashion show. Wang’s latest showcase was part traditional runway experience, part live-action drama (à la John Galliano’s recent internet-breaking Maison Margiela spectacle). The former Balenciaga creative director (2012-2015) launched his eponymous fashion brand in 2005 and was awarded the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2008. Fast forward to 2024 and his latest lineup was flaunted by the likes of Paris Jackson, Dennis Rodman and May Anderson. Wang’s Fall 2024 lineup was heavy in studs, leather and denim – essentially classic Wang staples revisited. The American designer opted to showcase his latest within the SoHo neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, New York with guests like Kim Catrall and Ice Spice flocking to the front row. Models soon emerged from backstage, ramping up the drama as they broke wine glasses, applied makeup and chatted on the phone while strutting the catwalk.
