Driving forward: Walmart Marketplace opens omni service for auto sellers

As the world’s leading omnichannel retailer, we’re bringing all the pieces together to be more than a marketplace. We’re looking across our stores and eCommerce channels to create great experiences for customers and more opportunities for Walmart Marketplace sellers to reach them.

Supercenters are one of our greatest superpowers. With 90% of the U.S. population living within 10 miles of a Walmart store, the combination of our physical locations and our eCommerce channels offers customers unmatched convenience and sellers more ways to grow with us.

Today we’re accelerating both by enabling customers to order eligible tires from Walmart Sellers and have them shipped to a local Walmart store for easy installation at our Auto Care Centers.

This initiative expands Walmart’s total installation-eligible tire assortment across stores and online. With today’s announcement, Walmart Sellers have added 12,000 unique items, including specialty tires, to provide nearly 40,000 Marketplace offers that are installation eligible at 2,300 Auto Care Centers around the country.

We know that buying tires is an important decision, and the right fit and quality are essential. Stores often have limited space and may not have the exact tire you want in stock. Ordering tires online from other retailers usually involves having the tires shipped to your home. And you probably have to take them somewhere else to be installed. It can be a lot to coordinate. Until now.

We have thousands of Walmart Auto Care Centers at our Supercenters. Our talented, trained associates do a lot of tire installations and rotations—millions of them last year alone—and we’ve proudly been named a Top-Rated Service Center by CARFAX each of the last three years.
