Anticipation is high as Formula 1 drivers prepare for the Imola circuit this weekend. Ducati has recently revealed a special limited edition Monster in honor of Ayrton Senna, marking the 30th anniversary of his tragic passing on this track. This commemorative piece holds special significance as Senna had a close relationship with Ducati, being both a fan and collaborator with the brand.
The unveiling of the Monster Senna will occur at the Formula 1 Grand Prix at Imola, with Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali, Bianca Senna (Ayrton’s niece), and Stefano Domenicali in attendance. The event will showcase the unique features and importance of this exclusive motorcycle.
Senna’s connection with Ducati began when he received an 851 SP as a gift, leading to his input in the development of the 916 Senna after seeing the model firsthand. Despite not witnessing the production of the 916 Senna, he was among the first owners of the original Monster 900. To honor this legendary figure, Ducati and Senna Brands have collaborated to introduce the Monster Senna.
The Monster series is renowned for its blend of sportiness, character, and style, qualities that resonated deeply with Senna. The limited edition Monster Senna will be restricted to just 341 units, representing Senna’s three Formula 1 World Titles and 41 Grand Prix victories. Each motorcycle will feature a plaque on the triple clamp indicating the model name and production number, as well as a certificate of authenticity and a specialized motorcycle cover.
The striking feature of the Monster Senna is its unique livery, designed by Centro Stile Ducati in partnership with Senna Brands. Inspired by Senna’s iconic helmet, the design incorporates a vibrant yellow, green, and blue color scheme that pays tribute to his Brazilian heritage. This design not only honors Senna’s legacy but also celebrates the national pride he carried throughout his career.
This limited edition Monster Senna comes equipped with exclusive features that differentiate it from other models. Standout elements include Brembo front brakes with 320 mm discs and yellow monobloc Stylema calipers, a radial master cylinder, sintered brake pads, and forged aluminum wheels that are 4.1 lbs lighter than standard wheels. Additionally, it showcases a homologated Termignoni silencer with a yellow stripe, enhancing both performance and aesthetics.
Ducati’s engineers and designers have meticulously crafted the Monster Senna to embody Ayrton Senna’s spirit and legacy. From its bespoke livery to its specialized components, this motorcycle stands as a testament to Senna’s enduring influence in the worlds of motorsport and motorcycles.
