Elon Musk has officially moved Twitter away from its old web address to X.com domain.
Musk announced the transition on social media by stating, “All core systems are now on X.com.”
As part of the change, all Twitter.com URLs are now redirecting to corresponding addresses on X.com. Users who visited Twitter/X were greeted with a message informing them about the URL change while ensuring their privacy and data protection settings remain the same, as reported by Rolling Stone.

Elon Musk’s rebranding of Twitter has been a gradual process since he took over in 2022, culminating in the change to the X.com domain in 2024. In July 2023, the iconic bird logo and name of Twitter were officially replaced by X.
However, the transition was not immediate for all users, with the mobile version of the platform retaining the bird logo for many months, especially for those who had not updated their apps.
Mashable reported that acquiring Twitter was part of Musk’s vision to create X and an app for everything, with the X logo representing a Unicode character for a “mathematical double-struck capital X.”
Musk shared the shift away from the Twitter brand with a tweet last July and has a history of incorporating the letter X in branding his companies, dating back to 1999.
Since Musk rebranded Twitter to X, the platform has seen a 30% decline in active tweeting users, as reported by Washington Post.
According to Forbes, Musk is one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, with a current net worth of $194 billion. His acquisition of Twitter was motivated by a desire to help humanity, as he stated in an interview.
