Grand Theft Auto VI now set for fall 2025 release

Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive have announced a late next year timeline for the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.

The information was shared by Take-Two in their latest earnings report, after initially aiming for a 2025 release. CEO Straus Zelnick told IGN, “We do feel highly confident that we’ll deliver (GTA VI) in fall of 2025”.

Rumors of a possible delay to 2026 due to internal issues at Rockstar were circulating.

The official announcement from Rockstar Games came in December, with the trailer becoming the most-viewed game release on YouTube within the first day. The new game is set in contemporary Leonida, a fictionalized version of Florida, featuring Vice City, swamplands, real-life events, and key areas in the state.

GTA VI to deliver an “unparalleled” experience

Players will control Lucia and an unnamed male character rumored to be Jason, both portrayed as criminals looking to make a quick profit by any means necessary.

Take-Two presented a bullish forecast in the earnings report, expressing high confidence in Rockstar Games delivering an exceptional entertainment experience. They expect a significant increase in net bookings up to 2027.

If Grand Theft Auto 6 is released in the fall, it will be almost exactly 12 years since the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5, a hugely successful title with over 200 million sales. The anticipation for the upcoming release and the future of the company are high.
