Pinterest and Real Simple magazine have partnered to create “Best & Brightest,” a shoppable magazine issue featuring over 120 curated editor-recommended products. Each segment of the magazine includes QR codes that lead readers to Pinterest boards where they can purchase the featured items.
The “Best & Brightest” issue launched on May 15 on RealSimple.com as well as Pinterest’s shoppable board, and it will be released in Real Simple’s June edition, available on newsstands starting May 17. Nearly every single page features shoppable content via QR codes.
This collaboration leverages Pinterest’s role as a popular platform for shopping and inspiration. By integrating QR codes into the magazine, readers can easily transition to curated Pinterest boards to explore and purchase products from various retailers.
Key statistics from Pinterest from December 2023 highlight that over half of its users visit the platform with shopping intent, driven by its personalization capabilities. The platform handles over 6 billion searches monthly and boasts 518 million global monthly active users.
The partnership with Real Simple aims to enhance this experience by aligning the magazine’s content with Pinterest’s boards, creating a seamless shopping journey. Readers can interact with the boards by following them or pinning items for future reference, making it easy to revisit and purchase products. This integration of visually appealing images and curated content provides a cohesive and elevated shopping experience.
The “Best & Brightest” issue includes a cover featuring celebrity Busy Philipps, various products tested and recommended by editors, and profiles of notable changemakers. QR codes within the magazine sections link to Pinterest boards, mirroring the magazine’s layout to provide a cohesive shopping experience. Users can directly purchase items or save them to their Pinterest boards for later.
This collaboration builds on Pinterest’s investments in original content and global content partnerships with Dotdash Meredith, Condé Nast Entertainment, Tastemade, and Westbrook Media. Last year, Pinterest launched the Red Standard program, rewarding high-performing publishers with incentives like funds for sponsored Pins. “Real Simple” participated in this program, achieving over 130 million impressions in 2023.
In its recent Q1 earnings report, Pinterest announced a 23% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $740 million. CEO Bill Ready attributed the growth to advancements in shoppability and artificial intelligence, noting that Gen Z, now over 40% of its user base, represents the platform’s fastest-growing demographic.
