Uber has revealed a range of new updates at its annual Go-Get showcase, such as shuttle rides to airports and benefits for Costco customers.
CNBC reported that the rideshare company’s aim was to help customers save money on food and transportation, as well as attract new users to the app.
At this year’s Go-Get showcase, six major changes were announced.
Uber Caregiver
Uber now offers an option for individuals with full-time caregivers to book rides and order medical supplies and groceries on behalf of their patients at no extra cost. This option accepts Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, and most employer-provided insurance plans.
Uber One for Students
The subscription-based option, originally priced at $9.99 a month, is now available to students for $4.99 a month.
Uber Shuttle
Uber has partnered with shuttle services to provide customers with affordable rides to airports, workplaces, stadiums, and live events. Users can reserve up to five seats on each shuttle out of a total seating capacity of 14 to 55 seats. The shuttle rides will be significantly cheaper than an UberX ride according to the company. The first offerings will be available this summer at specific venues in Miami, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Charlotte, with more locations planned in the future.
Costco & UberEats
As of Wednesday, May 15, Costco is offering on-demand grocery delivery through Uber Eats in select U.S. locations. Non-members can also order products, but Costco members will receive discounts of 15% to 20% on purchases.
Lists
Uber now offers “Lists” where users can create curated lists for options like “date nights” and “toddler-friendly restaurants.”
Schedule UberX Share
A new feature allows users to schedule a shared ride at least 10 minutes in advance, saving an average of 25%. Initially available in cities like New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, this feature will expand to more locations in the future according to Uber.
These updates come following Instacart’s partnership with Uber Eats.
Instacart customers can now order restaurant delivery from Uber Eats thanks to the collaboration between the two companies.
According to a press release, Instacart users will be able to use the app to order from Uber Eats-powered restaurants in the coming weeks. They can start in the “Restaurants” section of the Instacart app, selecting from nearby eateries, placing orders, browsing menus, and tracking deliveries in real-time.
