Vanity Fair might not hold the prestige it once did under the tutelage of Graydon Carter, but a whole bevy of A-list talents like Simone Biles, Anne Hathaway and Chris Hemsworth still don’t mind fronting the Condé Nast-owned fashion and culture title. For the magazine’s 2024 Hollywood edition, current editor Radhika Jones managed to secure Bradley Cooper, Natalie Portman, Pedro Pascal, Colman Domingo (…and more). Taking to Vanity Fair‘s June 2024 installment is Ayo Edebiri. The American actress and comedian who won a Golden Globe earlier this year for her performance in The Bear, poses for photographer Renell Medrano. Styled by Stella Greenspan, Edebiri reclines in a plush pink chair donning a sweatshirt and shorts from Marc Jacobs’ doll-inspired Spring 2024 collection.
Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:
“I like that it’s someone new on a Vanity Fair cover. I’m sad there’s no smile because she lights up any picture when she does. Nobody should be forced to grin for a cover – but I’m not a fan of miserablism either,” voiced forum member tigerrouge.
“Absolutely love those shades of pink, the beauty styling and the Marc Jacobs. However, Ayo Edebiri’s expression and pose isn’t working for me here. It’s all a bit… solemn despite those lovely and happy shades of pink. A massively missed opportunity, a smile would’ve elevated this immensely,” echoed vogue28.
Also not exactly jumping for joy was Urban Stylin: “Expression and hands in the pockets ruined it!”
Not everyone, however, was left so dissatisfied. “I think it’s fine for Vanity Fair, I don’t hate it,” blueorchid confessed.
“I actually really like this. I love that she is not smiling, it balances with the bubble gum pink overload. Ayo Edebiri is so gorgeous and captivating, you do want to open and see more, even without an inviting smile. Great styling too!” Wolkfolk approved.
