Walgreens Is Cutting Prices on 1,300 Products for Its Summer of Savings

Walgreens is offering consumers a price break during its Summer of Savings event. The drugstore chain will cut prices on over 1,300 items throughout the warmer months to help weary shoppers ease the burden on their pockets.

A company press release states that Walgreens plans to introduce more opportunities for consumers to save. Therefore, Walgreens will drop prices on more than 1,300 national and store-brand products in its health, wellness, personal care, and seasonal categories.

This promotion will introduce a series of campaigns, including the return of Walgreens’ popular myW Days in mid-July. Tracey D. Brown, EVP and president of Walgreens Retail and chief customer officer, stated, “Walgreens understands our customers are under financial strain and struggle to purchase everyday essentials. We continue to be committed to our customers by lowering prices on over a thousand additional items, something we’ve been doing since October of 2023.”

She added, “Through myWalgreens loyalty program, our more than 110 million members receive personalized offerings daily. Listening to our customers and offering quality products, value, and convenience every day is our continued commitment.”

Some examples of price reductions include:

  • One a Day 80ct Men’s and Women’s Gummy Vitamins, changed from $13.49 to $11.99
  • Eucerin Advance Repair Hand Cream, reduced in price from $7.29 to $5.99
  • Nine Can Igloo Hard Cooler, dropped from $29.99 to $25
  • Lasko 20″ Box fan, originally 29.99 and marked down to $25
  • Squishmallow 16” plush, reduced from $24.99 to $20.00

As always, customers should check their store for availability and pricing and use their Walgreens app for more savings.

CNN reports that Walgreens’ second-quarter sales beat expectations, but its full-year earnings outlook was lower due to the “challenging retail environment in the U.S.”

Inflation continues to bite back at consumers. Walgreens is just the latest in a series of stores taking measures to lessen the strain of the cost of everyday items. Walmart and Target are two other retailers cutting costs, per AARP.

Also added to the list is ALDI, which is cutting the costs of over 250 items through Labor Day. Giant Food stores are cutting back prices on their private-label food brands, and Michaels dropped the overall cost of some of its home decor items.

Walgreens operates nearly 9,000 retail locations across the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The company serves almost 9 million customers and patients daily in total.
